Welcome
Mararikulam is a quaint village in Alappuzha district of Kerala in South India. It is a haven for travelers seeking peace and tranquility. Marari beach, with miles of coastline, lush coconut groves, sun-kissed warm sands and its own pace of life provides an almost perfect window to peep into Kerala.
Veena – by the Beach, is an almost two-hundred-year-old traditional nalukettu (നാലുകെട്ട്) right on Marari beach. Built following strict Vaastu principles, it was brought to its present-day location by Keith and Sonia Baker in 2008. Supplanted from its original location in Kollengonde in Kanyakumari district of Tamilnadu, it took about five years to painstakingly reassemble at Marari beach.
Made almost entirely of exquisitely carved wood by artisans of the early 19th century, this nalukettu is a perfect showcase for the depth and breadth of Kerala’s history and culture.
